Pyramidal tree, crown growing rounded with age; 4-10m tall in maturity. Bark brown, fibrous, and furrowed. Leaves scaly, pale green; slightly denticulate margins; glandular on the upper side. Staminate cones ovoid; 3-5mm long; 12-16 stamens. Ovulate cones round, black with blueish powder; 7-8mm wide; fleshy but dry.
